i honestly loved this! it was my first big book in a while (that wasn’t a reread) so it took a bit longer to read, but honestly worth it. cc tends to reuse personalities a bit, which is where i docked half a star, but i still loved every minute i spent reading. one thing i especially loved in this was the diversity, especially seeing how it takes place in 1903. i also really loved the flashbacks, which i didn’t think i would at all. and most importantly, will and tessas wedding. i sobbed. four separate times.
to answer everyone’s question, no you do not need to have read every book from the shadowhunter chronicles, however you must read the infernal devices trilogy first. you might miss a few references if you hadn’t read tmi and tda (or any of the novellas - such as bane chronicles), but it really wasn’t a huge deal.
