General Comments: The relationship at the heart of this memoir is resurrected with visceral potency; it traces the past, but with non-linear continuity; fractured and divided into beautiful or painful moments with harrowing emotional logic. The slippery changes in point-of-view – from personal recounts, to an array of literary recounts – at times, muddle up the history’s trajectory, but are nevertheless, deeply felt.

Favourite Quote: ‘We deserve to have our wrongdoing represented as much as our heroism, because when we refuse wrongdoing as a possibility for a group of people, we refuse their humanity.’
