Fredrick Backman gets me every time.
In Anxious People, a bank robber flees the scene & winds up in a viewing for an apartment. But it has less to do with what happens in that apartment & more to do with what has happened in each person's life to lead them to the apartment. It's funny, it's heart wrenching - it's real life. It's not violent, but there is talk of suicide.
