My daughters, now 9 and 11, loved both the first book and this one. Both of them liked the second one the best. The plot of this second book was a little disjointed, as compared to the first, and Ruby's nemesis, Count von Viscount plays a more minor, background role in this one. But the characters seem more fleshed out and mature, if you will, as compared to the first novel. But there seems far less action and far less tension than in the first novel. I think my daughters liked it best due to the ocean theme and to more well-written humor. I would definitely recommend this series.
