The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas

4.0

SpoilerPer the authors recommended reading order, I read this book third in the series and I cannot imagine reading it first, like many advise. I would have had a tough time seeing past Celaena’s arrogance in the first two parts, had I not known her character from TOG and COM. Additionally, I found the first two parts sort of boring, although very important to the story. This was a great prequel. We got to see Celaena’s mistakes, and her arrogance and her immaturity in the first part, and then we got to see her mature with the experiences she had in each of the other four parts. The love story between Celaena and Sam was *chefs kiss* and my stomach hurts to think of all the guilt and regret she probably brought to Endovier with her. I’m curious to know why she didn’t attempt to find out who betrayed her and Sam while she was free to roam Rifthold through all of COM. I hope we get to see her find out who that was and get her revenge at some point. Also hoping we get to see more of Yrene, Ansel, the Mute Master and Ilias in future books.
