- ah, a novel with some good ol' southern tawlk
- the character dynamic between Lennie and George is an interesting one
- lots of characters that don't necessarily add an incredible amount to any part of the book, Whit for example could be completely omitted and nothing would be lost
- the book is certainly a product of its time, both in language and in theme
- it's a hopeless book, but not in the way that All Quiet on the Western Front was, this story allows its fictional characters to dream up until the very end
- lots of animals die in this book, very sad
- definitely not a pleasant book to read, but it has a lot to say thematically and I'll be thinking about it for a while
