Undoubtedly one of the most brilliant and beautiful novels I have ever had the good fortune to read. Each of McEwan's sentences are flawlessly crafted. I had read In Between the Sheets a few months back and was totally ambivalent. I had the same expectations for Atonement and was floored by the difference. Quite simply, Atonement is one of the most impressive novels I have ever read -a real treasure.
