The Ex Talk was a fun, fresh take on the rom-com with a clever premise that had me hooked right away. I loved the idea of two radio hosts pretending to be exes—it made for some really witty banter and playful tension. The workplace setting was well-done, and the behind-the-scenes look at public radio added a unique twist I haven’t really seen in other romances.
That being said, while I enjoyed the chemistry, it didn’t always feel as sizzling as I hoped. There were stretches where the pacing slowed, and I found myself wishing for a little more spark to keep the momentum going. Shay’s insecurities were relatable, but sometimes they felt a bit repetitive, which dragged the story out in parts.
Still, it’s a charming, easy read with some great moments of humor and heart. If you love enemies-to-lovers with a quirky setup and a dose of workplace drama, The Ex Talk is definitely worth picking up. It wasn’t a perfect match for me, but it was still entertaining and sweet.
