I love the language of this book. The imagery is intense, the language playful and very evocative of the child's perspective. Unfortunately, I did not like the story as much. The characters are selfish and harsh and navigating a very rigid, sexist, culture. There is little joy or hope here.
Graphic: Child abuse, Violence
Moderate: Incest
