The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

5.0

First off, I love love love Margaret Atwood. The Handmaid's Tale is the first book I ever read by her and have read several others since. The Testaments is the long awaited (35 years later) sequel to The Handmaid's Tale. Atwood says her inspiration for both books are based on REAL events in history - Gilead is a conglomeration of multiple societies that are controlling and corrupt. I want to hear THAT story! I enjoyed reading (or in this case, listening to) The Testaments - the story follows the next generation in Gilead and answers the question what happened next from The Handmaid's Tale. I'll spare you details so you can enjoy reading for yourself. I liked Handmaid's Tale better, primarily because it was the original, jaw dropping story - but Atwood didn't disappoint with Testaments.
