Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot by Mikki Kendall

4.0

I found this book to be eye-opening and helped me re-examine what I'd learned about feminism from my college women's studies class. I never thought about hunger or domestic violence as being feminist issues but Kendall clearly explains how these issues can be overlooked by mainstream feminists. I didn't know what intersectional feminism was until I read this book. It's a dense non-fiction read like each chapter is an essay. I liked when she included stories of her own life or people she knew, those anecdotes made the chapters easier to read.
