Flyboys: A True Story of Courage by James Bradley
5.0
This book is amazing! I teared up several times while reading this. I can't even begin to imagine the suffering on each side but at the same time, Bradley wrote so well that each member of the Flyboys or each Japanese soldier felt known to me. I could feel the hatred of Yoshii and Matoba and I felt a great respect towards Horie. They say history is written by the victors and they are right. As a student even through college (I was a history major) you never hear the thoughts and feelings from the other side. Those who were involved don't become real to you. These young boys from both sides of the Pacific war have become very real to me after reading Bradley's book.
