SO GOOD!! the first 15% was a bit boring but then things really started to change after. i loved the world building in this story and i think the author did a great job at that. it was great seeing another badass women in a fantasy story and i really admire xingyin for her bravery. the first 35% of the story i was team liwei, then when xingyin started her campaigns with wenzhi i became team wenzhi, then at the last 30% turned back to team liwei.

tropes:
-friends/enemies/lovers chaos
-love triangle (done right)
-forbidden love
-arranged marriage
-hidden identity
-morally grey villain
-badass woman mc

i was so sad and hurt when wenzhi betrayed xingyin. the author did a great job at developing his character for the reader to love him only then to make him betray xingyin. i was really rooting for wenzhi to end up with xingyin but i’m glad she ended up with liwei instead. i felt that when wenzhi betrayed xingyin that he, betrayed me too. the end quote COMPLETELY broke me (“love me again. or at least, not hate me anymore”). i know i shouldn’t be feeling this way towards wenzhi but i really loved him and i felt so empty when i found out he was from the demon realm.
