I didn’t realize this was a book that was part of the ‘smileyverse’ when I picked it up, there were references to it in the book, but I definitely don’t feel I missed anything, or was lost. This was a standalone, but connected to the other book. Welcome To Smiley Land will definitely have to be the next read! I really enjoyed the beginning and end where it was a group of kids telling a ghost story, but wasn’t cheesy or gimmicky as a lot of those stories can tend to be. Once the Sister Funtime portion of the story started you were in that world living in her timeline. Because this was a book in a universe being built by the author the way he tied in the previous book (which will probably make even more sense once I read it 😂) and the insinuations, and loose ties that were promised to be answered in future books made me even more excited to keep with the Smileyverse. The author is really talented and creative and the shorter book didn’t feel short especially knowing the story is not yet finished.
