This is Book 1 of The Broken Stars Series.
Just... WOW...
The story follows Calay as it navigates the world since The Change happens - an event when aliens decimate Earth. She finds herself alone and desperately trying to find her lost girlfriend and also her lost self as when civilisation fell, everyone changed.
In the first part of the story, we get to see the events of The Change and what happens plus the aftermath. It's incredibly hard hitting and descriptive, and it just hooked me from the word go.
Calay is so brave and strong, I honestly want to give her a massive hug after everything she's been through. She doesn't shy away from danger and does everything she can to do the right thing!
I absolutely adore Kristy's writing style - it's incredibly unique, and she really pulls you into the story.
I felt like I was in there with Calay and felt all the things she was feeling as she attempted to claw some level of normality in her life.
This is as a book and a review that I could talk about for hours, BUT I'd reveal too much as there's plenty to talk about and discuss.
It's an incredible start to the series, and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys Sci-Fi but wants to enjoy reading something with a unique flair!
I can't wait to review Book 2!
