It's a Love Story by Annabel Monaghan

emotional lighthearted

4.0

Another great summer read from Annabel Monaghan. You can always count on Annabel for a fun summer setting and real, relatable characters, and It's A Love Story was no exception!

Jane is a creative executive and former child star, trying to prove herself and get her first project off the ground. Dan is the grumpy cinematographer who could make or break the project. When Jane goes a bit too far trying to make the movie into the hit the studio is looking for, Dan might be the only one who can help her get things back on track.

While the Hollywood aspect of this story was not my favorite, it sets the scene for the relationship between Jane and Dan, which was sweet and well-developed. The beginning was a little bit slower to get into, but once they get to Long Island the story takes off. This might be the first time I related more to the MMC than the FMC, but I really liked Dan as a character. Jane's character was well-developed too but her inner struggle with feeling unlovable became repetitive and a little too much at times. Jane and Dan were good complements to each other, and their relationship and interactions with Dan's family were charming. Annabel Monaghan continues to be a go-to for sweet summer reads and an auto-read author for me!

Thanks to NetGalley, Putnam, and Annabel Monaghan for the advance review copy!
