Monogamy
by Sue Miller
Yes, this book explores the theme of marriage and monogamy (or lack thereof), and as always Sue Miller is a phenomenal writer who creates beautifully realistic and complex family relationships.
But what really touched me was the way the theme of memory was woven in and out of the story. Memory through photographry, memory through loss (Alzheimer's), how one memory leads to another, how memories can lose their power over time, or how memories can lead us astray and cause us to hold on to things (regrets, perspectives, fantasies) that were never really there.
I always enjoy books by Sue Miller, and I really enjoyed this one too.
