I was so excited as this was recommended to me & i recieved the set as a gift. I felt like the concept was good & some of the twists were fun. I just felt like the writing style is not my kind of style, it felt very much like the author was telling instead of showing. I also like to follow along on solving mysteries but I felt like I wasn't able to, not because it was a hard mystery to solve but because there's no way to actually try to solve it yourself because there's no real hints given throughout, we're just told how Avery is solving things. The love triangle trope made no sense to me, as it didnt feel earned, it felt really shoehorned in & quite frankly made my eyes roll every time it came up. I kinda saw the twist ending coming (I guessed part of it correctly) but it was still an interesting twist nonetheless. I'm hoping the second one in the series will be better, but the writing style is definitely what made it tough for me to get through, I almost DNF'd this due to that alone.
