In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto
by Michael Pollan
I listened to the audiobook which arguably isn’t the best medium for me to process non fiction. I can’t say I fully absorbed the content. Advice like this however always seems to leave out some class contexts — if you’re solution to the high cost of organic products is to “grow it yourself” because it’s cheaper and only requires “an hour of time a week”, you’re missing so many other structural factors (access to green space, climate, knowledge etc). That alone is enough to turn me off from other suggestions and discussions.
