Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
5.0
5/5 ⭐️
i am stunned, this book was such a freaking masterpiece. taylor jenkins reid creates some of the most interesting books that i’ve ever read. i loved the seven husbands of evelyn hugo and i loved this book as well. this book features two timelines: the 24 hours around the famous Riva party and the story of June and Mick. in the end, both stories weaved together so well that i was astounded at how everything came together. this was a perfect summer read and i loved the malibu setting of the novel. the characters in this story were so complex and beautiful. i loved the bond between the Riva children and i absolutely adored nina’s character. i feel i can relate to in the sense of always taking on everyone else’s responsibilities in order to take care of those you love, and i loved her strong character development throughout the book. she felt like such a role model and she is definitely one of the most admirable characters that i have read about. overall, this was a phenomenal book about the family bond and family secrets. it was an amazing read; taylor jenkins reid has such a cinematic way of telling stories that you can’t help but get sucked in and enjoy. i was hooked from the first page and truly felt like i was just watching a movie play out before me as i read. i love book that i can get sucked into and this one was no exception. simply perfection.i will read anything and everything that taylor jenkins reid writes because i know that i will never be disappointed with her storytelling abilities and her writing. cannot wait to read her next book!
“must be nice. to be able to be weak. i wouldn’t know.”
