One of my ALL TIME favourites, this graphic novel series has a bit of everything: fantasy, badass female protagonists, magic, monsters, mayhem, crude language, comedy - & a whole lot of sass. This quirky, raunchy (& ultimately endearing) series is about a rag tag pack of booze & candy guzzling mercenaries who kill for hire.
It's like Buffy meets The Hobbit meets Deadpool, and with four really different, really unique protagonists - there's something for everyone! The series just gets better and better, and I LOVE every raunchy moment of it. Despite the overall crudeness, and the violence, this series doesn't hesitate to cover deeper topics, exploring relationships (both romantic and platonic), as well as the complexities of faith, family, and friendship.
The illustrations are gorgeous, and it's incredible to see 4 diverse and kickass female protagonists (1 woman of colour, 1 queer woman, and lots of challenging notions about femininity, womanhood, and societal beauty standards). This book is unabashedly fierce & funny, and I would definitely recommend it - but for a more mature audience. #IndigoEmployee
