I’m a huge Disney Beauty and the Beast fan. Someone gifted me this gorgeous edition of the fairy tale years ago and i finally got around to reading it!
The book itself is beautiful. The story is pretty straightforward in the first half, but the second half goes off the rails and ends up reading like a soap opera involving fairies with a dash of Maury Povich. It could be the translation - it might make more sense if I read it in French - but it was hard to keep track of which fairy cast an evil spell on who…it was interesting to read a classic fairy tale. Nothing gory happened to any of the characters, so that’s good.
