I enjoyed reading this book, but I’m not sure that I would recommend it to anyone. While the premise is compelling and I enjoyed the writing and voice of the narrator, it was also often confusing and obtuse. The motivations of the narrator, “Jane”, are difficult to grasp and don’t feel like they justify her actions, which makes her difficult to sympathize with at times.
However, the book reading as a little off-kilter (frankly, weird) fits thematically with the direction of Jane’s life as she follows this mystery to it’s conclusion. If you accept the weird and allow it to pull you along, it becomes worth the journey
