A fascinating insight into the effect of trauma on young people, with possible neurodiversity thrown in. Cleverly navigates the boundaries between good and evil, capturing the resilience of a child who is more able to pull back the facade of society and act when no one else can.

Content Warnings

The ending is very reminiscent of Richard Matheson's I am Legend, and almost as good. The protagonist becomes the thing she fears.
