People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

Did not finish book. Stopped at 5%.
reasons I didn’t finish the book:
  • extremely, uncomfortably, unrelatable/unrealistic dialogue between the characters; this either needed another editor, is just a writing style that doesn’t work for me, or both
  • Characters who are more of an archetype or trope than actual breathing humans capable of having nuanced, complex, compelling stories
  • the *gina linetti voice* 🎶 racism, racism, racism 🎶
  • tell-not-show writing style that feels like a slog to get through and is hard to remember because of its’ utter inability to be compelling 

I was hoping to like this book better than beach read, which I read a year or two ago and also DNF’ed, and since someone whose book opinions I value & respect is a fan of Henry, but I just couldn’t get past all of the above; I think her books might just not be for me 🙂‍↔️
