I have tabbed so so many pages in this book, which preserved Pat's unflinching look at violence and it's cost in the ancient world. I can't quite place why it isn't 5 stars, other than loving the first two books notably more. Maybe it has something to do with moments where I disagreed with her characterization of certain figures? But that's largely a matter of interpretation.
