Gideon the Ninth
by Tamsyn Muir
I cannot believe this is anyone's debut novel. It's too good. If horror isn't your bag, you won't make it through. (There's quite a bit of gore that—to quote Gideon—is decidedly "GROSS.") But if you can get past that, you'll find that the humor is so much fun and the characters have a lot to offer. And, the plot twists genuinely surprised me! I had ideas for some of them as I was reading, and I was wrong every time. If you too enjoy being wrong about plot twists in favor of well-crafted storytelling, I think you're going to love this book as much as I did!
