Lord of the Flies by William Golding
5.0

Having seen both the movie and a theatre performance of Lord of the Flies I knew what to expect. This meant I wasn’t shocked to find young boys loosing their grasp on humanity after being deserted on an Island but there was something alarming about reading these events happening from the perspective a young boys mind. The writing style used is phenomenal and Golding gets right into the mind of how I would imagine these children would be feeling. It is almost heart breaking to read as these young children turn into complete savages killing off their own as they lose hope of ever being rescued. At some points I did feel like the story was dragging and much the same things were happening over and over again but this might have been because I knew the pivotal moments that were coming up and I kept thinking when are these moments going to happen. I found this a chilling but fantastic read, definitely one of my favourites.
