Runes
by Ednah Walters
I had a completely different idea of what this story would be when I started it.
It is supposed to be about Norse mythology which sounded really cool to me and I liked that there are not a lot of books out there in that genre.
However, this has almost nothing to do with Norse mythology and nothing is explained until the very end (and I'm talking 90% of the way through the book).
What happens in the first 89% you ask?
Well...the main character Raine spends most of her time thinking about Torin's amazing sapphire eyes and how hot he is while at the same time wondering if she should break up with her BOYFRIEND Eirik! She actually wonders to herself if liking Torin but not breaking up with Eirik makes her selfish! Yes, Raine, in case you were wondering, that makes you extremely selfish.
Other than that, nothing happens until the end when there's an info dump about just who and what everyone is.
Oh and don't get me started on the typos and grammatical errors! Some examples:
-"Torin was bad for me on 'some' many levels"
- "We moved closer, my 'check' resting on Torin's chest"
-"the shock of seeing the runes on my skin made me 'nauseas' "
All I can say is thank goodness this was free on Amazon. The runes aspect seemed copied from The Mortal Instruments, and the offish guy that for some reason the main character is attracted to reminded me of Twilight. (That's not a compliment.)
