Miss Spitfire: Reaching Helen Keller by Sarah Miller

5.0

A former teacher of mine recommended this to me, and I took it somewhat reluctantly. Normally I stay away from nonfiction and stick to fiction, but I thought I'd give this book a shot, and I'm very glad I did! This book fills you with hope and inspiration, and it warms your heart. I never knew the story of Annie Sullivan's childhood and how she came to know Helen, and I never realized how much she and Helen had in common. Helen was also a very intelligent and stubborn child, and she was much more physical than I thought she was. It's absolutely incredible to read about Helen and Annie's relationship, and amazing to see Helen learn. It was a little slow sometimes, but that was probably just for me. I almost cried at the ending, and I was so inspired by Helen's determination and will. Definitely read this book- it will change your life.
