Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

This book is a masterpiece.
I'd give it 6 starts if I could, by far my favorite read of the year! One of the best books of my life, truly can't explain it, you should just trust me and read it!

Spoilers ahead, you have been warned!

........................................................................................................................

I love the way the story is written, I love how I can picture it in my mind being a documentary, going from one band member to the next and back again while they give their opinios on the same subjects. It just translates so easily in my mind I feel like I'm there with them. TJR has a talent, her writing is just so unbelievably good I can't put it into words. It's magical really.

Billy - This guy really pissed me off in the beginning, I swear I was through with him after that first tour, but he really came around and became a really good husband and father and the reader can definitely see that it wasn't easy for him. I do think he failed his brother a bit. Eddie was mostly annoying but he was right, Billy wasn't the center of the universe all of the time.
Daisy - Much like her atitude in the book, my opinion on Daisy was a rollercoaster. I liked her for being strong and fearless feminist and I also hated her for not giving a damn about anyone other than herself (I'm not even talking about Billy or the band, but Simone was there for her for years, Simone desearved a better friend). Billy and Daisy show how different settings can influence addiction and recovery, those descriptions are also brilliantly written, the struggle of overcoming addiction.
Karen - She is by far my favorite character. Strong, determined, passionate. I love how she doesn't change her believes throughout the book. She wants to play her music and have fun, family, marriage and kids are not on her mind. I think writers make their female characters accept that they should want these things too often, I'm very happy that this didn't happen. Also, the way
Karen understands Graham reaction but explains why she won't have the kid and why she won't regret that choice... I really love her more for it.
Graham - I liked Graham, he was just doing his thing, on tour with his girl, having fun. Sometimes I was sad that he didn't get more recognition from Billy but mostly it was even more sad that he fell in love and wanted a family with someone who had different plans for her future (I was disappointed with the "take your time, let's think about it, you'll want a family" part of the story and his reaction to the abortion overall but I can see it was he's dream and he was just so hopeful that he could have that with her, I forgive him for it).
Warren - This man was clueless, I love him, he made me laugh the most.
Eddie - Least favorite character, I get that Billy and Daisy had most of the credit, if not all of it, but he was just picking fights left and right. Chill man!
Pete - A little bit irrelevant compared to everyone else really, he was consistent and reliable, lets give him that.
Camila - I was angry at Billy because of his attitude in the beginning but I was even more angry at Camila for putting up with it and forgiving every crappy thing he did. He came around and they had a cute family, she loved him and she was by his side until he was worthy of her but I still think she deserved better! Also, she wasn't exactly friends with either Karen or Daisy but she was there for them nontheless and she wanted nothing more than for them to be happy and healthy. We love to see women supporting other women!!
