A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi

5.0

This was a phenomenal, heartbreaking and eye opening look into the life of a teenage muslim girl a year after 9/11 , who navigates the racism of her daily life, falling in love, bullying and heartbreak all while learning and perfecting breakdancing with her brother & his friends so they can compete as a crew in the school talent show. This is definitely a new favorite of mine, and it will probably be in my top 5 books of 2019 at the end of the year.
