This was quite possibly one of the best (if not the best) historical non-fiction texts I've ever read. So much so that I purchased a hardcopy for a later reread and annotating. Mr. Plokhy's work is exceptionally well-researched and contextualized within the broader scope of European and global historical events, movements, and societal shifts. I would recommend this to anyone who is seeking insight into the causes and motivations driving the current Russo-Ukrainian war.
Minor: Colonisation, Genocide, Death, Slavery, Religious bigotry, and Antisemitism
