Overall just really, really affirming and uplifting. The latinx representation and the variety of latinx culture was soooo lovely. It’s so meaningful to have the Spanish just be inherent and not translated, to have the culture(s) explained only when needed for the book and not just explained for the benefit of non-latinx audiences, to have a trans boy get to exist in his transness as a huge part of his identity but at the same time he has an existence outside of it. Yads is critical and smart and fiercely protective, while Julian is hyper and unfiltered and incredibly loyal, and they complement each other so well. ❤️ I really enjoyed the balance of creepy but lighthearted, and appreciated how the story could be dark without being gory and gross (like a lot of horror has a tendency to dip into). It took a little while to get into the swing of the book for me but once it got going, I was really curious about where it was going to go. I wasn’t 100% sure how it was gonna end but I had a couple theories and am SO glad I turned out to be right. 😇 Super looking forward to what else Thomas has up his sleeve and definitely wanna pick up his future books. Really, really enjoyed this one and was worth every minute of the read.

As a last point - I listened to the audiobook and just wanna give a massive shoutout that the narrator is latinx, gay, and trans which is just so huge.
