Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys

3.0

I loved Between shades of gray so when I heard Ruta Sepetys was writing another books I knew I had to read it. Unfortunately I have to say that I was a little disappointed with this one. There are many things that I liked but there were some things that I didn't like about it at the same time too.

I loved the setting of the book. I don't know what it is but I love reading about the South. I also loved Josie. I was rooting for her through this entire book because I felt like one thing after another was happening to her and I blame it on her mom. I don't think I have ever hated a character as much as her. She was so selfish and rude to her daughter. Her bad decision had such an effect on Josie and things were always going wrong. I did like Willie and Cokie. They were both unique and really were in the end had positive effects on Josie's life.

The ending kind of surprised me with the way that it ended especially with the death of one of the main characters (it wasn't Josie, don't worry no spoilers).

I felt like the book was way too long. This took me over a week to read this and I felt like there was so much happening and not enough being resolved which confused me at times.

I really wanted to like this but I felt like there were things I liked but then the things that I didn't like kind of equaled out them.

Some of this book was kind of mature for a younger reader.
