Justice Calling by Annie Bellet
4.0

I originally wanted to read this because the author, Annie Bellet, was one of the Hugo nominees by the Sad Puppies who turned down the nomination. God knows why they nominated her -- she's a strong, punky woman author, who seems to embody everything they rail against.

Regardless, this was a pretty entertaining read. It's light, and has a nice Harry Dresden kind of vibe to it. If I have any real criticism, it's the low page count -- I didn't realize when I ordered it, but it weighs in around 120 pages, which makes it more on par with a YA novella rather than a full-blown fantasy novel.

There were no earth-shattering twists or turns to the story, but it's a totally enjoyable piece of modern/urban fantasy, and is a quick read. It's also very much not-male-gaze-y, which is a nice change of pace.
