Carrie is such a fantastic movie but the book has so much more nuance. I mean it’s hard not to feel incredibly sad for a girl who just wanted to be liked and to feel pretty, especially when her mother’s religious practices result in abuse. I think King understood teenage-girl-rage as much as any middle aged man could. Generally, I liked how the book was written. It gave so many perspectives and they each had personality. Howeverrrrr the detailed descriptions of teenage sex and the frequent mention of their breasts made me a little uncomfortable?
