Transcend: The New Science of Self-Actualization by Scott Barry Kaufman

5.0

EVERYBODY READ THIS ASAP IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOUR LIFE!!!

This should be The Required Reading for all humans on Earth. Forget the Bible!

SBK is a professor at my college and if I don't get into his positive psychology class first semester I'm going to march into that man's office and just absolutely beg. I must take his class...

I wanted to give this 4 stars only because this entire book was a big confirmation bias. Not in a bad way, I just kinda already knew most of what was covered in this book. However the entire book was so ME!!! So 5 stars. This is exactly how I want to live and have tried to live in the past year. I haven't achieved self-actualization yet of course, but I think I'm like on the 85th percentile of self-actualization for my age. (get it? a quip on height and weight charts...)

Pros
- The ending was SO GOODDDDD my heart just burst
- I genuinely think this book will help me grow as a person
- I can't even put into words how much of a godsend this book is...I think it's even better than Seligman's Authentic Happiness...

Cons
- I felt like SBK didn't really insert any of his own research or theory in this...it was kinda just restating all of Maslow's stuff. I mean I really enjoyed this book but like...is the ONLY new thing here just a new interpretation of the hierarchy of needs? ok...
