All Passion Spent by Vita Sackville-West
5.0
This novel reads like the fictional counterpart to Virginia Woolf's wonderful A Room of One's Own. What would a novel look like if it were about an aging woman whose husband has just died, whose children assume that she doesn't have any particular desires or abilities of her own, and who has definite ideas about how to live the rest of her life? It might look like this lovely, startling thing.
