The American Heiress
by Daisy Goodwin
I really enjoyed this book. I bought it a while ago, and never got around to reading it. However, I was challenged to read it through GoodReads for the month of September, and gladly took up the challenge. I was not disappointed.
While it took me a couple of pages to get used to the writing style (for some reason it seemed off at first), I loved this book.
I found the similarities between it and Downton Abbey to be a bit off-putting, I will admit that. I didn’t like ALL the similarities, like a lot of the names where the same, almost the exact description of the grounds, so many similarities. Also plenty of differences, but in the first 30% of the novel it was FULL of similarities.
I did enjoy the descriptions, and the throughness of the writing. I also liked the little twist at the end, and the ending not quite being what was expected. It was a very refreshing ending. I would honestly love for there to be a sequal, and would deffinately buy it!
