I really wanted to love this, and it's very funny, but it aged quite poorly if it was ever good at all. I understand that the dumb young dude is supposed to be isolated and that's why he cares about the confederate flag etc. but in 2018 that's just....ugh! I can't. I know it doesn't take place in 2018 but as a modern reader I can't get behind that arc of the story.
