Karina is a sad and broken protagonist who seems to face almost constant tragedy. Her downward spiral into her depression and loss was extreme and frightening.

The book is a shorter read and is filled with uncomfortable subject matter. The uncomfortableness grew with each turn of the page, until it feels like we completely lose Karina.  Then again, we probably never had her in the first place.

The last 20 or so page really caught me by surprise and I experienced great discomfort. I think that was to be expected of a horror story, no?
