I really loved how the author channeled traditional mythology storytelling in her writing with this book, and her development of the two protagonists was pretty strong, but I always felt myself wanting to skim through the antagonist chapters. Regardless, the Mayan mythology was captivating and valuable for any reader needing to broaden their understanding of frequently overlooked cultures and histories.
