Now that I've finished the trilogy, I'm going back and changing my ratings to fives. So good! I'd love to keep reading about Lavinia and Tobias, but this series was so satisfying, I'm OK with its end. This series manages what so many others don't (Stephanie Plum and the Royal Spyness series come to mind, although they are both much different): the characters evolve and don't repeat annoying mistakes and character flaws, which is usually done to stall the romantic plot or create conflict. Lavinia, Tobias, Emeline, and Anthony were such a joy to read about because they moved forward and didn't sabotage themselves. I get so irritated with those devices in other series, and the author never fell into that trap here. I will miss these characters, but I'm also glad their story was strong through the end.

The mystery was compelling and the dialogue had just enough humor. The series is a great example of light mystery romance without fluff.
