Little White Lies
by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I went on a bit (or a lot) of a Jennifer Lynn Barnes binge last year, finishing two of her series.
Sawyer Taft isn't sure how she will pay for college. But when her estranged grandmother comes by with a proposition. If she participates in a debutante season, her grandmother will pay for college! This also gives Sawyer the opportunity to maybe figure out who her mystery father might be. What she doesn't expect is all the secrets, deception, and lies involved in all those around!
This one, was definitely not as good as the other two I read last year (The Inheritance Game and The Naturals). It still has some of the same themes of friendships, mysteries to solve, and precarious scenarios. I do think the audiobook narrator's southern accent was lacking/caricature-ish (and trying to do different people's voices in different southern accents), which I do think turned me off. Still an interesting story and I'll definitely read the next one.
