Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen, Seth Grahame-Smith

5.0

I know many people (especially die-hard Austen fans) have been less than impressed with this book but to be honest, I greatly enjoyed it. The core of the story remains the same with issues of class prejudice and detrimental pride driving the novel but the addition of the zombies gives an additionally delightful antagonist. The character of Elizabeth Bennett becomes so much more intriguing, especially as a feminist icon. Fitzwilliam Darcy's road to love for Elizabeth gains more depth in a way that is both ridiculous and endearing.

Before judging how Austen's legacy might be tarnished, give the book an honest try!
