Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah

5.0

Don't go into this book thinking it is just another comedian's memoir written as an extension of their standup. Trevor Noah's book is about several more important things. It's about his life growing up in late-apartheid and post-apartheid South Africa as a multiracial person. It's about being raised by a very religious and resilient mother. It's about living in an abusive household. The book is full of moving essays, peppered with the comedian's humor. I am very happy that Trevor Noah chose to tell these stories and I felt honored to be able to read them.
