The most entertaining travel guidebook you'll read. The author has a fantastic sense of humor. It's like having a friend who happens to live on Maui. Reading up beforehand is very helpful, although it was a little lacking when we were actually on the ground on the island. I think the book may be a little skewed toward more adventurous types, especially when it comes to snorkeling.
And a big warning to those traveling to Maui, which the book didn't really make clear: when you get to the end of the Road to Hana (somewhere near Hamoa Beach) TURN AROUND and go back the other way. If you keep going you will end up off-roading with your 4-cylinder rental car and it's an unpaved, steep, desolate mess. Consider yourself warned.
