Okay, by the end of the first book, if Donatella had no haters that meant I was dead - but WHY did she become my favorite sister over the course of this book? I think it's because she had quite a bit more agency than Scarlett and the necessity to do what needed to be done (to an extent). For two sisters who supposedly love each other though, they barely spoke to or cares about each others existence. The whiplash of reveals happening (tella is jacks true love and this fine and will not die??) the characters addressing it in one statement and then moving on did make me quite detached from the story as a whole. I'm going to keep going but I wish there was more focus on the whimsical magic that I loved so much in the first book. See also - the game being played is so irrelevant at all times, this book could have been an email.
