I received this book as an eARC but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

“It matters to me. Everything you do matters to me, if you haven’t noticed.”

Beckett and Sunny have a history. Beckett, 16, meets Sunny, 8, when he moves to the town of Friendship, RI and becomes best friends with her older brother. The boys do not make life easy for Sunny as she navigates growing up with challenges associated with a chronic illness. The two meet again as adults when they find themselves business owners sharing a parking lot.

Beckett is our grumpy, growly hero who has always been the fixer for his family. He’s been ignoring his own needs for a long time and his world is turned upside down when beautiful, sunshine-y Sunny enters and starts to occupy his every thought. Their story from enemies to lovers was laugh out loud and romantic.

“What was it when you allowed another person to care for you so tenderly, so completely that they became the person, the only one you could ever imagine knowing you in such a raw, thorough way?”

There are so many reasons to love this book. The caretaking in this book is top notch. The spice is just right. The side characters are fun, diverse, and felt really organic. The character growth was beautiful. I love Kate’s writing and this new book gives us more of what we love and have come to expect from her. I highly recommend this one and cannot wait for the next Loew brother!
